4th of July and Car Show Weekend

We love the 4th of July time of year. Our little town puts on a fun parade and other activities. This year my parents also had some time off work and came down to spend a couple of days with us. We did our usual....the parade, city park fun, a cookout, afternoon nap, and the firework show. Lizzie loved the parade. We sat in the yard of her friends and they all got lots of candy.
Here she is with her mouth full of sticky candy!

After the parade we went down to the city park where they had some fun bounce houses and other activities for the kids. We bought a couple of tickets so Lizzie could go on a ride or two, but she thought she would be sneaky and got away from us a time or two and got into a few bounce houses and Koby had to chase her out of them. She did have a ticket for this bounce house, but her time is limited. When her time was up she was not about to get out.  It was funny to watch. She would not listen to us and we couldn't get through the hole to go in and get her. So needless to say the little girl that was the time keeper had to go in after her. If you know our Lizzie, it was quite a battle.
Later in the afternoon on the 4th we blew up Lizzie's pool and watched her do some funny tricks in it. She wanted to put on her goggles and hold her breath and go under the water. It was quite the entertainment she put on. Grandma also taught her how to hold her bucket and have a water fight with her daddy. I didn't get any pictures of that. My camera was put away with the water being thrown around. She was pretty good at it though, so watch out if you see her coming with a bucket of water.
The day after the 4th it rained a lot of the day so we decided to stay inside and do some baking. Lizzie had wanted to make sugar cookies with some 4th of July sprinkles we had bought so this was a perfect day for it. Grandma, Lizzie, and I made a double batch and boy were they delicious-as you can see on Lizzie's face below. By the time we were done we all looked like we had been slaving in the kitchen. We had flour from head to toe and we were all wearing it. I guess we should have been smart and wore an apron like Lizzie did.

YUMMY! You gotta love a good sugar cookie!

The weekend following the 4th is the usual Cache Valley Cruise In. Since marrying Koby we don't miss this. This is his favorite thing to do. He loves old cars. Koby and my dad spent all day there on Friday. (I guess if you know a lot about cars you can do that.) My mom, Lizzie, and I went over on Friday night and looked at a few of them. Lizzie liked this one because she says, "It's just my size."
Then we joined some of our family Russ and JJ and their son Dustin and his daughter Lily at the sock hop. This was a lot of fun. And I think we will do it again in the future. Lizzie enjoys dancing and grooving to music so she ate this up. In fact once they started the music and said lets dance she was the first one out there. Not shy one bit. The guy even brought her out an extra ice-cream and a prize. She was the only one out there dancing for awhile.
I caught some fun video of the night.
Here is a fun video of Lizzie when she went out and started dancing.

It was also fun for the rest of us. We all danced a little as the night went on. Koby dancing with his daughter. Showing her a few moves.
I know Koby is not going to like me for sharing this one, but I couldn't resist. Not everyone's husband moves like this! What a good man just for getting out and getting the groove on! LOVE YOU HONEY!

Towards the end of the night Grandpa bought Lizzie and Lily a glow wand. They thought these were great!
